The YMCA is looking for an energetic, dependable individual that loves kids to be a part of their childcare team. The position is responsible for the direct care and supervision of all children enrolled in the center. We are currently looking for individuals who are available nights and weekends.


  • Organizes, plans, and executes all activities for enrolled children.
  • Greets parents and children with smile and a warm and pleasant greeting. Interacts with members and their children in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Monitors the classroom area at all times to ensure safety, and immediately makes changes as necessary.
  • Provides a positive environment for all participants and involves self with the children in their care through playing games, reading stories, etc.
  • Exemplifies appropriate behavior model for participants; actively listens to all children and shows patience, understanding, and respect for others.
  • Instructs participants of the rules of the center and ensures adherence; re-directs children only when appropriate and within the established guidelines of the YMCA and parent.
  • Immediately reports all unusual incidents or accidents to the Lead Teacher and Executive Director and files all necessary written reports.
  • Must maintain control and account for the whereabouts and safety of children, including arrival and departure.
  • Ensures the childcare facility is neat, orderly, and free of all safety impediments.
  • Develops and fosters interpersonal relationships between participants, and actively creates an environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness toward others. 
  • Ensures basic care of all children's needs are met (changing of diapers & feedings). 


  • High school diploma or GED highly desirable. 
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire
  •  Previous experience working with children a plus. Ability to work with children of varying ages.
  • Maintain a high level of concentration for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work independently using management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and learn quickly.
  • Possess excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Customer service skills desirable.
  • Individual must possess maturity, sound judgment, with the ability to resolve conflicts in a professional and tactful manner.
