Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Director leads their team to develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA programming that supports our cause.

Responsibilities

  1. Directs and supervises activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance and manages payroll.
  3. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  4. Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  5. Monitors program operations, equipment and facilities, to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  6. Develops appropriate curriculum and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, along with maintaining licensing regulations at all times.
  7. Establishes new activities and relationships to expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  8. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications.
  9. Coordinates scheduling, safety and use of facilities (on and off-site) for program activities and events.
  10. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  11. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  12. Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
  13. Compiles program statistics and submits reports. Makes program modifications as needed.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  2. At least one year previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  3. Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration
  4. Must meet state licensing requirements for Director position of applicable license
  5. Must meet annual training hour requirements for duration of position
  6. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications
  7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
    the community and successful clearance of background check.

  • Office/recreational environment. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking are required. 
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program.
  • Hours will include evening and weekend work.
  • Reliable transportation and travel among local branches will be required.
