Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership Manager works to ensure YMCA members and guests experience a safe & fun environment that helps them reach their goals. This includes, but is not limited to, member recruitment & retention activities, collections and audits.

 

Position Hours: Monday-Friday 4:45am-1pm

 

Responsibilities

  1. Supports staff and volunteers. Works with supervisor to develop strategies to lead staff and achieve goals.
  2. Develops, models and integrates systems and practices that encourage and sustain positive relationships and retention of members/participants.
  3. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  4. Conducts interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  5. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  6. Listens to and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  8. Actively participates in department and branch meetings and/or trainings.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least 1 year previous supervisory experience in customer service
  • Demonstrated success leading member-focused or equivalent team
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
  • Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; membership-specific training
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
