  • Overview

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Environmental Services Manager enhances YMCA properties by completing or assigning tasks and schedules for YMCA Environmental Services staff throughout the Association.

    Responsibilities

    1. Creates standards for association-wide housekeeping tasks, methods and products with collaboration from Property Team and Executive Directors.
    2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate Environmental Services Team and achieve goals.
    3. Manages branch housekeeping wage, supply and environmental services project budgets and submits reports to branch leadership.
    4. Monitors housekeeping service contractors to ensure they meet expectations.
    5. Informs property team of maintenance issues.
    6. Maintains tools and equipment in a safe, functional and orderly manner.
    7. Assists location staff as needed to maintain cooperative working relationships.
    8. Relates to the public in a positive manner.
    9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
    10. Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
    11. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree highly desirable.
    2. Three or more years of experience in facility management or closely related field required.
    3. Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; State Pool Operator’s Certificate
    4. Completion of YMCA risk management and other maintenance-specific certifications, as needed.
    5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
      the community and successful clearance of background check.
    6. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between branches on a daily basis required.
