  • Overview

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Food Program Supervisor oversees the development and operations of various food programs and/or other food related services.

    Responsibilities

    1. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
    2. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
    3. Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.
    4. Follow food safety guidelines and maintains food safety training/certification(s).
    5. Actively participates and/or leads food related trainings.
    6. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. High school diploma or equivalent
    2. Related food service experience and/or course work preferred
    3. Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause and culture, program specific, Abuse Prevention and Safety trainings (provided by YMCA)
    4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check

    • Reliable transportation and travel among local branches required.
    • Hours may include evening and weekend work.
