  • Overview

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The Senior Executive Director of Development will guide the financial development team, planning and executing capital campaign and organization-wide grants as well as identifying and growing major donor relationships.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develops association-wide fundraising strategy in conjunction with CEO and CMO
    2. Directs and coordinates association capital development and future endowment programs
    3. Leads association grant management and Foundation relationships  
    4. Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects
    5. Supports Annual Campaign through strategy and planning
    6. Leads and inspires Financial Development team
    7. Establishes and monitors the financial development department budget
    8. Develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association
    9. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development
    10. Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed
    11. Provides training in fund raising as well as educating, motivating and providing feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process
    12. Works closely with Marketing team to develop communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support
    13. Serves as a member of YMCA leadership team and supports overall objectives of the YMCA
    14. Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or trainings
    15. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
    2. At least 5 years of capital campaign or major gift development required. Consideration will be given to candidates with proven business development results.
    3. Ability to create interpretive materials to enable potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.
    4. Foundation and government grant management expertise preferred.
    5. CFRE or equivalent preferred; YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.
    6. Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA Brand, Cause & Culture, Child Abuse Prevention, and other safety training
    7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.
